Milan - the vibrant fashion capital of Italy
24 hours in Milan offer enough time to experience the city's most important sights. From the imposing Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to cosy cafés and a ride on the historic tram - this is how you can plan a perfect day in Italy's fashion capital.

Duomo di Milano
Start the day at the Duomo di Milano, the city's landmark. The Gothic cathedral impresses with countless towers, intricate details and a breathtaking atmosphere. If you arrive early in the morning, the square is almost yours alone and you have the perfect backdrop for your photo in front of the iconic cathedral. It's not just the impressive architecture that characterises the scenery: the omnipresent pigeons also give the square a typical, lively Milanese atmosphere.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Right next to the Duomo is the magnificent Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - one of the oldest shopping arcades in Europe. Luxury boutiques, elegant cafés and traditional restaurants are lined up under the huge glass roof. Even if you don't buy anything, a short stroll is a must. And don't forget: spin three times on the bull mosaic in the floor - it's said to bring good luck.

Gelato at Casa Infante
A visit to Milan wouldn't be complete without a creamy gelato - and you'll find the best in town at Casa Infante. The selection of flavours is huge: from creamy vanilla and fruity classics to sophisticated creations such as coconut with pistachio. The portions are also much more generous than elsewhere.
Shopping
Milan is a paradise for anyone who loves fashion. In the "Quadrilatero della Moda", one luxury store follows the next - from Prada to Gucci to Versace. Those who prefer a more relaxed pace can stroll along Corso Buenos Aires, one of the longest shopping streets in Europe with hundreds of shops. And for those in search of something special: In the hip Navigli neighbourhood, you will find small concept stores, vintage boutiques and creative design shops.

Tram ride
At the end of your day in Milan, it's worth taking a ride on the historic tram line 1. The nostalgic carriages with wooden benches and brass details jolt comfortably through the streets and give you a special view of the city - without any hustle and bustle. So you can end your day in a relaxed manner. If you fancy a slightly longer, equally atmospheric ride, tram line 10 is also a good alternative. It winds its way from Porta Ticinese via the Navigli district to the vicinity of the main railway station - also with historic carriages.
