In this article, we show you 10 Vietnam highlights that you should definitely experience. Perfect for travellers who want to discover Vietnam authentically - including tips on food, culture, sights and special experiences that will make your trip unforgettable.

1. Hoi An Memory Show
The Hoi An Memories Show is an absolute highlight. Over 500 performers, dancers and actors appear on one of the largest open-air stages in Vietnam and bring the history of Hoi An to life. With colourful costumes, impressive music and spectacular lighting effects, the story of the city's development from an old merchant settlement to its cultural heyday is told. The unique backdrop is particularly impressive: The stage is embedded in nature - with water, bridges and rice fields as part of the scenery. The show is therefore an absolute must-see when you are in Vietnam.

2. typical Vietnamese food at Faifoo
Faifoo in Hoi An is a must for all foodies. As soon as you enter, you are warmly welcomed by the hosts and the aroma of fresh herbs and flavourful spices wafts towards you. Faifoo's menu includes classics such as phở, crispy spring rolls and bún-cha - all freshly prepared. If you want to experience Vietnam from a culinary point of view, this place is not to be missed.

3. visit a cooking class
A cookery course in Vietnam is much more than just learning to cook. The day usually starts at a market full of colourful fruits, vegetables and spices. Then it's time to get to work: with an experienced chef, you learn step by step how to perfectly prepare dishes such as bánh xèo or summer rolls. At the end, you sit together and taste your lovingly prepared creations.

4. try the egg coffee
5. visit the An Bang Cemetery CITY OF GHOSTS
Over 3,000 colourful mausoleums rise up here like little palaces, turning the cemetery into the so-called "City of Ghosts". Many families invest enormous sums of money here to build magnificent resting places for their ancestors. The elaborate ornaments, colourful facades and playful details seem almost surreal and make this place something very special.

6. enjoy the sunrise at the sand dunes of Mui Ne
The sand dunes of Mui Ne are one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Vietnam. Early in the morning, when the sun rises and the dunes glow in shades of gold and red, a beautiful desert landscape emerges.

7. have clothes tailored in Hoi An
Hoi An is world-famous for its tailoring - and for good reason. Tailored suits, dresses or summer outfits are created here within just one or two days, perfectly customised and designed according to individual wishes. Many tailors draw the pieces immediately after the first consultation and realise them at lightning speed. A souvenir that is not only practical, but also very personal.

8. see Hoi An by night
When the sun goes down, Hoi An comes to life. The streets are lined with countless lanterns in all colours, casting a warm, almost magical light on the old houses. Small candle lights float on the river, which visitors place in the water in honour of their wishes. At the same time, the alleyways fill with music, laughter and the smell of street food.

9. writing a postcard at the post office in Ho Chih Minh City
The central post office in Ho Chi Minh City is an architectural masterpiece from the colonial era. Writing a postcard under the high vaulted ceiling, which was co-designed by Gustave Eiffel, has an almost nostalgic charm - and is a nice souvenir of the trip. The postcards can be bought and written on the spot.

10. enjoy the lake and the tranquillity at the Bich Dong Pagoda in Ninh Binh
The Bich Dong Pagoda is nestled in a dreamlike landscape of limestone cliffs, caves and lush greenery. A small path leads to the various temples, some of which are built directly into the rocks. In front of the gate is a small lake with water lilies floating on it, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. Anyone who stays here immediately realises why Ninh Binh is often referred to as the "dry Halong Bay". It is a place where you can pause, take a deep breath and let the beauty of nature take effect on you.
